Bridal wear is the most famous fashion all around area which generates most of the revenue for the fashion designers and stylists. Also, it is a very special day for the brides as they have been planning for years for their perfect wedding. Well, the beauty of being an Indian bride is that it has its own traditions and styles which makes your w-day unique for you. 

We have many state societies which follow different trends and styles which make their wedding unique in its own way, where we can merge or amalgimation of two different state styles to create the new fusion bride look. Well, more about that later.

So, let’s hop onto the ride with me to learn about the most prestigious looks from the brides of different states.

  • Tamilian Bride:

The true essence of the godliness and tamil traditions are carried forward into the tamil marriages and their attire. Silk fabric plays the most important role as both the bride and groom carries the silk as their main ensemble fabric. The groom wears the two piece garment known as veshti which is the lower garment which is either draped as a dhoti or simply rolled over the waist as a lungi along with the angavastram which is the scarf taken over the neck and shoulders. A simple white shirt is carried along with the ensemble.Whereas the bride slays the look with the kanjeevaram silk saree in vibrant hues and colours along with the stunning designs and varieties of gold accessories that are family heirlooms passed through generations for giving that goddess-like look. The accessories include, tamil maangtikka, nethi on both sides of central hair parting, no.of necklaces layered round her neck, gold bangles, diamond nosepins, etc.The true beauty of the couple lies on the flower garland around their necks.

  • Marwari Bride:

If you have been to a marwari marriage ceremony, there is no need to mention that their marriage screams royal and regal from all the directions and places. The bride carries the achkan which is a knee length jacket along with the jodhpuri pants that go well with the jodhpuri sandals that shows the essence of true royalty. A turban made out of traditional bandhani fabric along with the makes this eccentric look complete.The brides carries the lehenga choli heavily embellished with stones and crystals and embroidered with golden threads that adorn the odhni that they drape on their head. Many accessories such as Rakhri is worn on the forehead, Timaniyaan is a diamond-studded choker to be worn around the neck, Choodiare a host of bangles, Bajuband is an armlet often made with gold and stones, Bichhiya are the toe-ring and Nath is the nose ring. She wears a typical jewelry known as Borla on her forehead which is similar to Mangtika.


  • Kashmiri Bride:

The traditional bridal outfit worn by the groom at the wedding day is pheran which is a long sleeved kurta which is tied at the waist by a waistband which is made of pashmina and embellished with the golden threads. The headgear and necklace made of pearls or precious stone makes the attire look regal and royal.The brides too, wear a pheran that is an oversized kurta along with the veil that resembles the salwar-kameez, mostly in vibrant colours as red, maroon, rust and orange. The pheran is heavily embellished with zari work and the tarang which is an elaborate headgear completes the look. A special ornament known as Dejharoo is worn by the Kashmiri bride. It is a pair of gold pendants adorned with precious stones connected to a gold chain that is strung through the ear piercing.


  • Punjabi Bride:

Punjab has always been famous for having the people who love the essence of their tradition in everything that they do, and so it shows in their bridal attire. The bride carries the lehenga or patiala suits in vibrant red colour whereas the groom carries the pathani suit mostly brocade along with the sward and a big turban that often matches the bride’s attire’s colour. The beauty of this state's bridal wear is the red chuda which makes the look of the bride complete and breathtaking.

  • Muslim Bride:

Another beautiful tribe who shows luxury and royalty at the best amount is the muslim marriages. The bride carries the sharara suit with hip length kurti along with the scarf on the head whereas the groom carries the suit with big flower veil on their head which is supposed to protect the groom from the evils. The unique accessory to the bride which symbolises the muslim bride is the headpiece that goes sideways on the head along with the lots of accessories to pull the look in the right way.

  • Christian Bride:

Having a christian wedding is the dream for all the young ladies around the world. It usually is carried onto the church and the bride carries the white dress along with the pearl or diamond accessories that matches with the outfits perfectly with the minimalist resemblance. The groom wears the tuxedo or the suit with a brooch and a bow tie whereas the bride puts on the veil and carries a flower bouquet that has a very significant ritual meaning. The ring exchange completes the marriage ritual.


Weddings are the celebration of tradition and beauty which not only involves the bride and grooms but also their families and their culture. And so, all the weddings resemble their particular culture and rituals which makes the wedding unique and unforgettable.
