You can’t start designing without these 5 important elements of fashion!

Designing is one creative field that uses the perfect combination of esthetically balancing and functional entities to create the design. There are many types of designers and artists around the world but when it comes to productivity it all comes down to the same concepts and elements that help you get started with your design.

What are Elements of Design? In simple words, Elements of Design are the ingredients that a designer or an artist uses to create his masterpiece. To make it, even more, simpler, think of the elements as the colors in the palette. The combining technique of the colors is creativity and the painting that we can see as the end product is design. Will an artist be able to paint without any colors? Now I know you might be thinking what if an artist requires a black and white or pencil sketch, but hey genius!! Even Black is a color in which case pencil would be the element along with the canvas or a piece of paper.

The 5 basic types of Elements of design are as follows:

• Line
• Shape
• Form
• Colour
• Texture

1. Line:

A line is a basic string or collection of multiple dots. It could be wide or narrow, straight or curved, long or short. But these are the most basic elements that we require for the design as putting our thoughts and vision on a piece of paper would not be possible without using the line.

2. Shape:

The shape is a figure that can be made by using lines in your design. The difference between line and shape is the same as that of a 5 cm line with 5 cm Square. The combination of different types of lines could be used to shape the design or create a better narrative of the imagination of an artist.

3. Form:

Just like a line creates the shape, combinations of shapes are used to create the form. Think of it as giving a 2D design an upgrade of 3D. 4. Colour:

Once you are decided on your basic structure or layout of the design, then comes the big hero Colour! Colour plays a vital role as it's the first thing that average consumers notice in a particular design or art. 5. Texture:

The texture is the ultimate finishing element of the design. The visuals and structures are showcased by using line and form, color helps in passing the message and vibe of the design, but the texture is something that gives a glimpse of quality. Textures can be used by using different raw materials, mediums, and fabrics in terms of fashion. There are numerous textures available in nature that can be reimbursed into the design canvas.
